Tom Lenk is best known for his role as the ambiguously gay geek Andrew Wells in the television show Buffy the Vampire Slayer and its spin-off Angel. After the show ended, he landed a gig on FOX’s new series at the time called Do No Disturb as a longtime boyfriend of a gay character, played by Jesse Tyler Ferguson.
He was born in Camarillo, California on June 16, 1976. He has been acting since 1997 staring in his first movie Boogie Nights. He has also landed roles on shows like Joey, House, Six Feet Under, Eli Stone and How I Met Your Mother. Lenk is also a playwright and has written three plays. He also loves to sing and has appeared in the Broadway musical Rock of Ages as Franz.
While he was going to school other people began to notice his talent. In 1997 Tom won the Carol Burnett Award and Scholarship. He attended Moorpark College for his junior year and then transferred into UCLA’s theater program, and later graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from UCLA.
Lenk had some issues with his management at one point, overhearing them make fun of him and eventually left. His new management team is not only gay-friendly, they are gay. He has worked with people such as Joss Whedon on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, and Michael Bay on Transformers. There is more to come from this talented actor!
