We are officially in the New Year and resolutions are being made. Happy 2015! In case you can’t think of any for 2015, here are a few New Years resolutions specifically for men that you could take a chance on this year.
Do your Own Repairs
We aren’t trying to be a strict gender role and say that because you’re male you have to do the repairs. We know that in history they’ve been considered for masculine but consider this. If you learn to do your own repairs you will be saving so much money. You can head over to your local home improvement store and get the materials to do the job yourself saving you money. It’s also really easy to learn now with resources like Google, the Dummy series and even people at the home improvement shop looking to help out. Sometimes it feels good to save money, learn something new and help yourself. You’ll look at your work afterwards and feel proud of your accomplishment!
Get into Reading
They might say Print is dead but that does not need to be the case. Reading is a great alternative to all the Netflix binges you’ve been doing and it broadens your vocabulary. You can get really into a series just like television and there are so many classic and great stories to cover. Don’t know where to start? The internet has tons of great lists you can follow. Maybe make a goal of reading a new book every week or month. This list is one of my favorites: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/books/4248401/100-novels-everyone-should-read.html Books are also a great topic for first dates.
Establish a Workout Routine
You’re probably reading this with a sigh. We aren’t saying that everybody needs to be a buff gym monkey but working out is mandatory for good health. Find a workout routine that works for you- perhaps you are a secret gym bunny or maybe you’re more into dance or yoga classes or even just a quick half hour walk a day is good for muscle movement. Find what works for you so later on down the line you’re not hurting terribly. Feel better about yourself and meet new guys in your area!
Volunteer/Help a Brutha Out
We get so lost in ourselves that sometimes we become depressed stuck in a reel of our own troubles. Take a moment to help somebody out. Whether it’s volunteering your time or your money everybody needs a helping hand. Charles Dickens said it best “No one is useless in this world who lightens the burdens of another.” We also all know of karma so take a moment to help out a friend or stranger or do something nice for somebody.
Learn a New Language
It’s something I think everybody secretly and not so secretly wants to do. Learn a language that is part of your family tree or maybe you plan on travelling somewhere new and you want to be well versed in the language. Take a little bit of time to broaden your horizons and it also adds interest and intellect to you and to your resume.
The most important resolution of this year should be becoming the best version of yourself. Conquer your fears, take control and be the sexy and intelligent person you’ve always wanted to be.
