Eddie Redmayne is an English actor who has been in many great movies, starting off his film career in a movie called Like Minds (later re-titled Murderous Intent for its 2007 U.S. DVD release). Movies like Les Misérables, The Theory of Everything, and Jupiter Ascending. He is currently working on Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them that is slated to be released in 2016. This Friday, November 27th,  the much anticipated movie The Danish Girl will be released in theaters. When I first saw the trailer I put it on my must watch list!

The movie is inspired by a true story about a Danish painter Einar Wegener and his wife. It follows the journey that Wegener goes on to change himself to live his authentic life and transition from a man to a woman in the 1920’s all while remaining married to his wife. When his wife, who is also a painter, asks Einar to dress up as a woman and pose for a painting she is working on because her model did not show up, he has a life changing moment.

The movie is an adaptation of David Ebershoff’s novel The Danish Girl and began production earlier this year. The story of Lili Elbe is also a story of love, identity, bravery, courage, and living authentically. Lili Elbe is also the first person to successfully transition into a woman. Lili is now recognized as an icon in the trans movement. Since then she has inspired many of us to be brave and live our lives the way we want.

There is also now a play out called Sommerfugl and is also based on the story about Einar Wegener and his wife.
