Celebrate Bisexuality Day
Studies have shown that the bisexual populations have significantly higher levels of distress and
mental health difficulties than equivalent heterosexual or lesbian/gay populations. All too often bisexual people are misunderstood, judged, and have stupid questions and statements thrown at them like “You are just greedy.”
What people don’t understand is that we are just like them. We just have a wider range of interests. For example I can like pie, custard, cheesecake and ice cream – does that make me greedy? No, it just states that I have a wider range of interests. And just because I like more than one gender doesn’t mean I can not be faithful to one person. I can be married to one person for 20 years and still be attracted to another gender. It also doesn’t mean I am going to cheat on my spouse. Cheating is a choice and that has nothing to do with my sexuality. Sexuality can also change over time. It is different for everyone.
