He plays Ian Gallagher, the gay teen son of the dysfunctional Chicago family called the Gallagher’s. Mornaghan is not gay but does play a gay character in SHAMELESS. He tweeted back in February 2013 “This is the only time I will answer this here: No, I’m not gay. Yes, I play a gay character. No, the question should not be relevant.Thanks for the kind words, everyone. It feels a bit odd to ‘come out’ as a straight guy.”
Cameron Riley Monaghan was born on August 16, 1993 in Santa Monica, California, U.S. and began his acting career at the age of nine. He first appeared in the ABC Television show “The Music Man” starring Kristin Chenoweth and Matthew Broderick. He later landed a recurring role on Malcolm in the Middle. He has also appeared on show such as Criminal Minds, Numb3rs, The Mentalist and The Glades.
He is currently in filming for the movie “Wake” which started on February 16th, 2015 in Cleveland. The film also stars Bruce Willis, Ben Kingsley and Piper Perabo. This action thriller movie is about the story Red Forrester, a sociopath with no fear, who returns to his childhood home on a remote island for his brother’s wake. When the island comes under siege, Red must save his family – that exact same family that banished him years ago. The movie will be release some time in 2016.
